great weekend...not

well my sisters center (daycare she is director of) was broken into.  glass shatters, office ramsacked, fire extinguisher dust everywhere!.  thats what i spent sunday doing...cleaning the daycare.  but at least i got paid for.  i am a children friend employee even though that one wasnt techinically my center.  anyways, satuday we found out my mom have diabetes and fluid is biuling up around her lungs.  she owes the specialists too much money from last time they had to remove the fluid so she cant get it removed this time.  pretty much if she doesnt quit smoking and lose at least 100 lbs things arent gonna be very pretty...
yeah id say i had a wonderful weekend...the only good thing i can think of is my first tattoo.  but thats 1 small good thing vs. 2 really bad things.  sucks.

haha. im late. the final draft is due today but here its posted too.

High School vs. College

Many high school students plan on furthering their education by going to college. These students look around and get information about different institutions. Some may choose a community college while others may choose a university, but do they ever think about how much different college will be? While both give the opportunity to learn, take classes of interest, and graduate; there are a lot of things that differ between the two. These differences include but are not limited to: the level of difficulty, the amount of times a student would spend socializing, and the schedule.

Think back to high school. Remember when the teacher would go over the answers to tomorrow’s test? That doesn’t happen in college. Also, in high school, teachers generally spend a week for two teaching one chapter in the text book then they give a test. In college, Instructors go over two to four chapters in two weeks then give a test. All those subjects you never had to study for in high school, you find yourself spending a lot of time studying for in college.

As a result of college being so much more difficult, you may also find yourself having less time to socialize. Going out every night with your friends isn’t going to happen if you want to pass all your classes in college. You have to study almost every night. Most students in high school are initiated to get out of bed and go to school with the thought that they are going to talk to their friends all day long. In college you cannot talk, text, or pass noted during class because you will out on important information. In other words, you actually have to pay attention to the instructor, not socialize.

However; the good thing about college is that you can pick you own schedule. In high school, students must be there at eight in the morning and they go home at three in the afternoon. Students are required to take enough classes to fill in that time period. In college you can take classes any time of the day. You can also take as many or as few classes per semester as you want. If you are not a morning person, start classes at noon. If you work during the day, start classes at six in the evening. It is completely your decision.

In conclusion, high school and college may have some similarity and they are very different. Both have their strong point and both have their weak points. However, In order to decide which is more enjoyable, you must experience both. Some people enjoyed high school more while others prefer the college life. To each their own.

It was a pretty easy essay

YAY!  I finally finished another essay.  When we were first assigned the example essay i was rather weary.  It took me forever to find a topic.  But as soon as i began writing, it turned out to be the easiest essay ive ever written.  It was just all the things that come before you start writing that was hard for me.
The comments io recieved were awesome.  I took alot of the advice and changed my paper multiple times.  I do also feel that I am improving in that it isnt so hard for me to incorperate details into my papers anymore as it used to be.  I guess you can say ive become less lazy with writing.

So-called Sinners and Saints

A preacher stands before his congregation and announces that his divorce has been finalized. He asks to not be judged and admits the error of his ways. He says it simply didn’t work and the details are between him and God. Later he announces that he is not only newly divorced, but also he is now engaged to another woman. Does this surprise you? More than likely it does because this isn’t something people expect out of a man of God.

A young woman and her fiancé go to church every Sunday. They also participate in weekday church events. The couple finds out they are expecting a child. Considering that sex before marriage is a sin in the Christian religion, this is not what you might expect from a churchgoing couple, right?

Another man goes to church. He reached some hard times in life and became strung out on methamphetamines. Through all this he remained in church. Now he has been saved and “clean” for four years. Is his past what you would expect?

Are any of these people bad people? Are they any less of a Christian? Think about this: A man lives on the street. He has never been to church a day in his life. This man is an Alcoholic and lost his family because he was extremely violent. Does this surprise you? More than likely it does not. This it because he is not the so-called churchgoing Christian.

People often have the misconception that if a person is a die-hard Christian, meaning that they go to church every chance, read the bible, and preaches to others that they have no sins. This is simply not true. The scriptures from the Bible assert that everyone sins. “For all has sin and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by his grace and through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23-24, KJV). This means no one is perfect, including the churchgoing Christians. Sinning does not necessarily make you a bad person. We are expected to sin: ask for forgiveness and our sins will be forgiven. So, churchgoers are not perfect and should not be expected to be.

everything costs money

me and my fiance have an expensive couple weeks coming up.  my savings is definitely going to suffer.  we have to pay rent and have money for our normal expenses like gas and all.  then we also have to get new tires for my car.  he needs a drill for work. we have to get tickets for my neices to see the naked brothers band. then we have to get up money to go to the ga national fair to take my neices to see the concert.  I hate spending money.  lol

2nd essay--2nd rough draft...made some changes.

To answer all the above questions: no. People often have the misconception that if a person is a die-hard Christian; going to church every chance, reading the bible, and preaching to others; then they have no sins. This isn’t true. In the bible it is said that everyone sins. “For all has sin and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by his grace and through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23, KJV). Rain Rain Go Away

grrrr.  This rainy season needs to go away!  I work in a day care with school aged kids.  They have entirely too much energy to be kept in that classroom and I cant take them outside when the playground equipment is wet.  If the rain doesnt end soon, I'll lose my mind being stuck in that room with 21 energetic kids.  ugh.

About my first essay

I have to say i do feel accomplished to have finally finished my final draft.  The biggest challenge i faced throughout wrinting my essay was trying to incorperate detail.  I'm not much for alot of detail when I'm writing.  I'm just ready to finish so I tend to write as simple as possible without actually meaning to. But, I forced myself to really spend more time on this essay and I think i have enough detail.

As far as the comments from my peers, I appreciated the constructive criticism that was given to me.  It helped me alot.  Also, I think the fact that I know someone other than me and Aiken would be reading my essay made me work harder on it.  Also, in reading and commenting other's essays, I felt more at ease about the mistakes I was making because I was not the only person making the same mistakes.

Never go to Canvas of Flesh

So, i got my labret pierced at canvas of flesh in byron.  Big mistake.  They are horrible.  My bar literally got stuck inside my hole and i had to go to beyond tabboo to get it out because kota at canvas wouldnt answer the phone.  turns out they didnt put a long enough ring in my lip to even work if it wasnt swollen.  They are idiots.  They also gave me horrible aftercare instruction.  Pretty much the told me to do the thing im not supposed to do and vice versa. And it took her a full 2 minuted to get the needle through.  Instead of stabbing it through, she pushed and stopped and pushed and stopped and pushed and stopped. I'll definitely be going to beyond tabboo for my next.

new car...i guess

well i got another car.  this one runs.  it just looks like crap.  i traded my older sister my broke down car for a car that runs pretty good so im not going to complain too much.  i was lucky she did me that favor.  but anyways the car is a 94 dodge shadow.  half of it it blue and the ther half is rust.  literally.  so far the cheapest ive found that i can get a paint job is $1500 because rust removal is such a pain.  So, if anyone out there actually reads this part of my blog.....if you know of anyplace i can get a paint job with rust removal for cheap please let me know! I dont want anything fancy...just one solid color is fine.

bad weekend

To begin with i was sick all weekend.  Then my car like blew up.  seriously it cant be repaired.  Appearantly it was out of oil but i just check the oil 3 weeks ago.  idk how it got that low.  i think someone is draining is our oil because right after mine quit running because of no oil, tonya checked hers and it was empty also.  like not low but completely empty just like mine was and she just changed her oil a few weeks.  (yes we do know how to change our own oil.  wonder of being raised by a mechanic.)  anyways so she fills hers up and we decide to tell chance to check his just to see if maybe it wasnt a coincedence and sure enough...his was empty also and he got his oil changed professionally about 1 1/2 months ago.  we do live in a kinda bad nieghborhood though.  maybe the neighborhood kids (hoodlums) thought it would be funny to drain our oil.  and who would put that much work into it?  the plug is still there and there isnt any oil on the ground.  wierd!

Descriptive Narrative--final draft

Children's Friend

Children screaming, yelling, fighting, pinching, hitting, and throwing. This is probably what comes to mind when you think of a job at a daycare. Believe me, you are right! Let me tell you about the first day I worked at Children’s Friend.

I walked through the front doors at seven-thirty a.m. The lobby was completely calm. A few parents came through the doors with children tagging along and the director, Bernice, was sitting at the front desk. After asking where I should go, I walked through the doors and down the hallway.

Kids galore! In a huge room there were about thirty kids ranging from infants to schoolers and maybe four adults. Three children were sitting at the table eating breakfast and the others were sitting on a couch mesmerized by ‘Cars’, a movie on the television. I immediately noticed one little girl sitting at the table with an empty plate in front of her. She looked about two years old with fluffy hair and light mocha skin. She was by far the cutest child I’d ever seen. I then thought this job isn’t going to be so bad.

After all the kids finished breakfast teachers came to take their classes and the schoolers loaded the bus. Bernice informed me I’d be assisting Carrisa in the two-year room. I was excited because I was sure the little adorable girl was in that room.

The classroom was not very large. It had cubbies against one wall and a play kitchen against the other with a shelf in the middle of the room filled with toys. There was a changing table next to the bathroom and a small sink by the door. The sink was low enough for the kids to reach.

I looked around the room at all the kids. I was correct, the cute little girl was in my class. Her name was angel. She and seven other two-year-olds filled the room: three boys and four girls. One little girl sat crying by the door. One boy was beating another boy with a block. It was at that moment I began to question what I had gotten myself into.

The day went on as normal. The kids just acted like kids but they seemed to mind Carrisa pretty well. We handed out lunch and laid them down for nap. Once all were asleep I was released for break. Upon my arrival back to work Evon, assistant director, told me I’d be in the room by myself now. I didn’t think it would too hard. Boy was I wrong!

The kids were going crazy! One little boy with blonde hair and blue eyes named Nick wouldn’t stay out of the water. Karen wouldn’t stay off the table. Haiden wouldn’t stop crying. Michael and Lacy wouldn’t stop hitting. They just would not listen to me. Everything I said went in one ear and out the other. ‘No’ just didn’t work. I was going insane.

Amazingly hours went by and none of the kids were hurt and I still had a small bit sanity left. Most of the kids had gone home by this time. I only had three left so I took a minute to sit down. That was a mistake. Suddenly I heard giggling. I got up and walk over to the sink. Nick had turned the faucet away from the sink and turned the water on full blast. My room was flooded. I buzzed up front and asked for help. Evon came and mopped my room will I kept the kids on the carpet by reading a book. It took her a while to get all the water because there was so much of it.

Once she finally finished, all my kids had left. Thank God. Now it was time to clean up and go home. I found the vacuum and cleaned the carpet. Mopping was not necessary. After wiping off the table and disinfecting the changing table, I flipped the light switch and closed the door. As I walked down the hall on the way out of the building, Bernice stopped me to ask how my day was. I simply looked at here. She laughed and said ‘That bad, huh?’ I said "Oh yeah" and explained everything that had happened. The next day she put in a different classroom.

Long day yesterday.

yepp...yesterday was a long day.  I had to take Tonya to the emergency room at like 6 am.  She was getting ready for work noticed some blood.  of course, being pregnant, thats always something to worry about.  Me, her, and Matt were at the ER for 7 1/2 hours. As soon as we got home i had to head to work but my kids behaved pretty good so work went well. Also the baby is fine so that makes everything good also.  Turns out Tonya is less preggo than we thought.  She is only 5 1/2 weeks.  Well, that was my day yesterday.

What to expect from my blog...

Well, we are supposed to blog at least twice a week so I guess I'll start now. I'm probably going make my blog a little confusing. Somedays I may write about what I did or what i am planning to do. Other days i may just express some beliefs and views or whatever else. It just depends on what comes to mind at the time i decide to post. I hope that will be okay. Aiken said we could do whatever we wanted to do with the blog so it shouldnt be a problem.

This was just a post to clearify what I'm going to do with my blog. I'll make a real post soon. Maybe tomorrow.

Description of Someone Special

With jet black hair and blue eyes, he stands tall. His messy hair touches his ears and covers his brows. His eyes appear like shattered glass, with various shades of blue and grey. His mouth is thin. The left edge tilts up as he grins a crooked grin. He appears to be a young man, just out of adolescence. He towers over me wearing a thick work shirt with the sleeves rolled up. His light denim pants have a wide tattered rip in the leg through which I can see a nasty sore from what I assume was a fall. His hands are rough and callused though not as much as a man who had been working for too many years.

Expectations

In my English 1101 class i know that I will be required to do alot of reading and writing. During the time i will be spending reading and writing in the class I would like to possibly learn more about myself through my writing. I do believe that writing is an expression of who you are so hopefully i will achieve that goal. By writing personal opionions onto paper I hope to get the chance to dig deeper into myself to discover views and values that i didnt even know i had and learn about other's views as well.

Also, I love you write in general but i have found that im not very good when it comes to transition and vocabulary in my essays. I hope to learn to write essays with a wider vocabulary and have smoother transitions between topics.

Then there is the obvious...I just want to pass the class so I can move on in my core classes. Preferably with an 'A' since that would help my 'GPA'.
